Red Square

Red Square is the central square of the city of Moscow, and in general of all of Russia. It is located between the Kremlin, the residence of the President of Russia, and the Kitai-gorod merchant district. Initially it housed the Moscow market, but was also the site of various public ceremonies and proclamations. The name of the square comes from the fact that in Russian the word "krasnaya" means both beautiful and red.
