The Diamond Fund represents one of the largest collections of natural gems, jewels and nuggets, kept in the Moscow Kremlin. These riches go back to the Russian crown treasury, established by Emperor Peter I of Russia in 1719. During the late Soviet period, the value of the fund's collection was estimated at $7 billion.
