Bunker 42, also known as Taganskaya Control Center, is a secret bunker located 60 meters underground. The bunker was designed after countless nuclear tests, which attested to its concrete functionality. The structure was located in a strategic point of the city, inside a hill near the Kremlin in such a way as to allow Stalin and government officials quick access to the bunker.
Fortunately its use was never necessary, but was used only as a communication point with strategic bombers. Bunker 42 was only opened to the public in 2006, as a Cold War museum.
