The Royal Palace of Milan, in Piazza Duomo, was for many centuries the seat of the government of the city of Milan, of the Kingdom of Lombardy-Venetia and then a royal residence until 1919. Today it is home to shows and exhibitions
The palace plays an important role with regards to art in Milan, as demonstrated by the great successes of the exhibitions in recent years which have ranged from Monet, Picasso, Piero Manzoni and many other well-known names in world painting and sculpture. Fundamental is the exhibition inaugurated at Palazzo Reale in 2009 on the occasion of the centenary of the birth of futurism.
