El Badi Palace, are the ruins of a palace in Marrakech, built by the Sa'dian sultan Ahmad al-Mansur al-Dhahabi in 1578. After a few years, however, the palace was destroyed by the Alawite sultan Moulay Ismail, who used its materials to decorate his palace in Meknes. Originally, this structure had about 360 rooms, a courtyard 135m long and 110m wide and a swimming pool 90m long and 20m wide, richly decorated with Italian marble and large quantities of gold, imported from sub-Saharan Africa.
