The Serchio (in antiquity the Auser) is the third longest river in the Italian region of Tuscany at 126 kilometres, coming after the Arno at 242 kilometers and the Ombrone, at 161 kilometres. With the average speed of the flow, it is the second largest, smaller than the Arno but larger than the Ombrone. The main source forms on the slopes of Monte Sillano, 1,864 meters (6,115 feet) high and is flanked by a secondary branch, the Serchio di Gramolazzo, in Piazza al Serchio.
