The tallest Ferris wheel in Europe, with its 135 meters the London Eye has changed the skyline of the South Bank and the entire city. Without being frightened by the kilometric queues, perhaps by purchasing the ticket online, spending half an hour aboard one of the 32 cabins of the wheel is a must for anyone visiting London.
Opened by Tony Blair on 31 December 1999, it is now one of the most visited attractions in England, with an average of around 10,000 visitors a day. A "flight" on the London Eye offers a view of the city which, on the clearest days, can reach up to 40 km in radius. Suggestive is the fireworks display on New Year's Eve: at the stroke of midnight the traditional fireworks of the British capital are fired from the wheel. The attraction has changed its name several times: from British Airwais London Eye to the current Coca Cola London Eye, sponsor company since January 2015.
