Harrods' origins date back to 1834, when Charles Henry Harrod opened a small grocery store. In 1848 the shop moved to its current location where, over time, it expanded with the purchase of neighboring premises and houses. The Harrods building complex offers a luxurious decoration with statues, fountains and richly decorated halls. Of particular tourist interest is the Egyptian Hall and the Diana of Wales Memorial.
