The National Shrine of Christ the King or simply Christ the King is a large statue of Jesus Christ located in the city of Almada, Portugal, on the left bank of the Tagus River and facing the city of Lisbon.
The statue, inspired by the statue of Christ the Redeemer located in Rio de Janeiro, was commissioned by the Portuguese dictator António de Oliveira Salazar and was inaugurated on May 17, 1959.
