The Calouste Gulbenkian Museum is a cultural institution in Lisbon, Portugal, inaugurated in 1969 and supported by the Foundation of the same name.
Born from the private collection of Calouste Sarkis Gulbenkian (1869-1955) it houses an eclectic collection that ranges from antiquity (Greek, Roman, Assyrian), to Asian art (Islamic, Chinese and Japanese), to European sculpture and painting (from Renaissance to the nineteenth century), up to the applied arts (silverware, ivory, carpets, furniture and more). One room is dedicated to Impressionist painting (Monet, Manet, Renoir, Degas and others), another to the production of René Lalique (glass, gold, statuettes, drawings and other objects).
