The Centro Cultural de Belém (or CCB) is a building located in the freguesia of Belém, in Lisbon. The Center was built to be the seat of the Portuguese presidency of the European Economic Community (now the European Union), until in 1993 it was used as a cultural and conference centre. The structure was designed by the Italian architect Vittorio Gregotti together with the Portuguese architect Manuel Salgado, between 1988 and 1993. During the weekend, the center fills up with street performers and skaters.
The Centro Cultural de Belém features a large exhibition center and a design museum containing pieces dating back to 1937. It also has a café and restaurant overlooking the olive groves which soften the traffic noise and from where you can see the docks on the river.
