Tempio Voltiano

Museum Lake of Como, Italy

The genius of Alessandro Volta on the shores of the lake Tempio Voltiano

The Temple was erected on the shores of Lake Como in 1927 on the occasion of the celebrations of the centenary of the death of Alessandro Volta. Inside are preserved busts, bas-reliefs and relics of Alessandro Volta. It is unthinkable to visit Como without going through the Voltiano Temple. Designed by Federico Frigerio, it has the shape of a neoclassical temple with a four-sided plan, preceded by a large Corinthian pronaos with the statues of the Faith and the Science of Charles and Luigi Rigola, inside a large circular hall surmounted by a high dome.
