The gardens of Villa Melzi stretch along the shore of the lake and fit harmoniously into the hilly landscape of the Bellagio peninsula which divides the two branches of the Lario. Inside, the villa, the chapel and the orangery, now set up as a historical museum, are a splendid expression of the neoclassical style, and as such declared a national monument.
