The building that houses the museum is the former Tatsuike Elementary School, and was inaugurated on November 25, 2006. Its 300,000-item collection includes rarities such as Meiji period magazines and postwar books. The museum offers many areas to read manga, such as some dedicated reading rooms or outdoor benches.
