Yad Vashem, is Israel's National Holocaust Remembrance Organization, established to "document and pass on the history of the Jewish people during the Holocaust by preserving the memory of each of the six million victims", as well as to remember and celebrate non-Jews of different nations "who risked their lives to help Jews during the Holocaust" and certified up to January 1, 2017 in 26 513 people. Established on August 19, 1953 with the Memorial Law passed by the Knesset, Israel's Parliament, the site housing all of the Memorial facilities was constructed on the western slope of Mount Herzl ("Mount of Remembrance" or "Mount of Remembrance") of the forest of Jerusalem, 804 meters above sea level, with a historical museum occupying an area of 4 200 m² with "mainly underground" structures.
