The site of Christ's weeping, on the Mount of Olives, was first marked during the Crusader period and then commemorated with the construction of a chapel overlooking the Temple Mount. Today on the site stands the Church of Dominus Flevit, which literally means "The Lord Wept" or "The Weeping of the Lord". The church, which is shaped like a teardrop, was completed in 1955 and is one of the most modern churches in Jerusalem.
