Battery Park

Quartiere New York, New York

Great afternoon activity! Went and walked around through the wonderfully manicured paths. Enjoyed the views and the waterfront. There are great spots to stop and snag something to eat or drink. Overall nice setting.

This is a great place to go for a picnic. Bring a blanket and a ball and it's hours of entertainment. You can walk along the water. Or just sit on the grass. Additionally there is also a carousel for the kids. It's close proximity to the trains make it a great Sunday trip!

I think many people forget that New York City was originally a seaside community while it started that way take the Easter population in the history of oysters in Manhattan as a great example you should look it up. Battery park is so fabulous destination for tourists and locals alike because of the unique architecture and the fact that you can walk around the island and see many different vantage points including the statue of liberty Ellis island and parts of Brooklyn and New Jersey that depending on the time of day are spectacular they sparkle and now the seaside community is growing even larger and stronger especially since hurricane Sandy. There are small museums and sculptures throughout downtown battery park and I encourage you to pay attention to the details because you might just miss something spectacular. From Cemeteries to Wall Street to Bodega's and more it's worth spending time in battery park. but please do not drive down there expecting to park - there is absolutely no parking during the week you will get a ticket and you will hold people back there is one massive parking lot at the end of battery park that is relatively expensive, but be prepared to walk as well.
