La scheggia di cristallo The Shard

Lo Shard London Bridge è un grattacielo a Southwark, Londra. Inaugurato il 5 luglio 2012, con i suoi 310 metri d'altezza, è il più alto grattacielo dell'Unione europea ed il terzo in Europa.

La London Bridge Tower di Renzo Piano è stata ribattezzata The Shard, la “Scheggia” di cristallo lanciata contro il cielo, è il fulcro dell’intervento di riqualificazione del quartiere attorno alla London Bridge Station. La sua forma piramidale è anche pensata per poter accogliere nel migliore dei modi un mix funzionale: uffici di grandi dimensioni, un hotel a cinque stelle nella zona intermedia ed appartamenti. Gli ultimi 4 livelli, sono pubblici e ospitano una galleria panoramica da cui ammirare la città a 360 gradi.

The staff made a special occasion even more special. When I booked for our Saturday brunch for our family group of five, I mentioned in the online note that it was a birthday lunch for an 88-year old relative. On arrival, we had the most pleasant surprise to be told we had been allocated one of the private dining rooms. Nothing was too much trouble. We were told to take our time. The speaker in our room was turned off, on request - no dramas. We were all very impressed with the service, and the respect shown to our elderly relative. A massive thank you to all concerned - you helped make the day!

The shard was one of those London attractions I found tranquil. It was so peaceful being up there looking down at London. We did go on a morning slot so maybe that's why but we felt like we were the only ones despite the presence of other guests. Would certainly recommend. If you can go on a day with sunny weather that would be an added bonus
