Vallisaari

Vallisaari is an island in Helsinki. It is located between Suomenlinna and Santahamina. The island has a few ponds and was known for hundreds of years as a place for sailors to get fresh water. Some fortifications were built on the island, but while nearby Suomenlinna became the main sea fortress for Helsinki, Vallisaari was a supply point where cattle were grazed and firewood was collected.
