Ateneum is an art museum in Helsinki, and one of three museums that form the Finnish National Gallery. It is located in central Helsinki, on the south side of Rautatientori square, near Helsinki Central Railway Station. It has the largest collections of classical art in Finland. Previously, the Ateneum building also housed the Finnish Academy of Fine Arts and the Helsinki University of Art and Design, but since 1991 it has been a museum. The Ateneum building is owned by Senato Properties, the real estate provider to the government.
