The Port of Hamburg (in German Hamburger Hafen), on the River Elbe, is the main port in Germany and the third largest port in Europe (after Rotterdam and Antwerp). It is among the first ports in the world for container traffic, in 2006 8.86 million pieces passed through. In 2007 and 2014, 9.7 million transited.
