The Porto Antico is a part of the port of Genoa currently used as a residential district, tourist, cultural and service center divided into two areas given in concession by the state property to the companies Porto Antico di Genova S.p.A. and Marina Porto Antico S.p.A. and an area managed directly by the Municipality of Genoa. Its re-adaptation was completed in the early 1990s on the surface of what was once the heart of the port activity - the realm of the camalli who were part of the Compagnia dei Caravana - and which had remained virtually unused for many decades. Today its descents, which follow each other without interruption, even if they assume different names, make up the Area of the Old Port, a vast area overlooking the sea which houses, in addition to the aquarium, numerous points of artistic, museum and tourist interest. , fair and entertainment, on an area of over 230,000 square meters.
