The church of Santa Maria di Castello is a Catholic religious building in the historic center of Genoa, located along the hill of the same name, in the Molo district. Its parish community is part of the "Centro Est" vicariate of the archdiocese of Genoa. Located on the hill of Castello, the first inhabited place in Genoa in antiquity, the church of Santa Maria di Castello is one of the oldest places of Christian worship in Genoa and one of the most intact and evocative Romanesque buildings in the city.

    Secondo la tradizione la più antica chiesa di Genova e forse la suo prima cattedrale, di sicuro bellissimo edificio medievale con le notevoli colonne romane reimpiegate nelle navate. Da non perdere gli affreschi di Justus von Ravensburg nella loggia del secondo chiostro, arte nordica con vista sul Mediterraneo: unica!

    Chiesa bellissima. Grazie ai volontari si possono visitare tutte le sue parti storiche. Poco conosciuta ma credo che tutti dovrebbero visitarla. È ricchissima di storia,con affreschi in molte parti del comprensorio. È affascinante vedere su quanti livelli sia costruita. Il parco interno una volta si trovava a picco sul mare mentre ora rimane racchiuso tra le case.
