Sant Francesc Xavier or Sant Francesc de Formentera is the largest inhabited center on the island of Formentera and is its official capital. In addition to being the largest, it is also the oldest inhabited center on the island.
Original in appearance is its parish church, dating back to the eighteenth century, which has no windows as it was initially also used as a fortress and a place of protection for the civilian population from attacks by pirates who often plundered the island of Formentera and which they were the cause of its depopulation.
