Vinci is an Italian town of 14,579 inhabitants in the metropolitan city of Florence, in Tuscany.
Despite being a small village gathered around the Rocca dei Conti Guidi, Vinci participated in the glories and battles of Florence for the conquest of the territory. But the historical glories faded into the background with the birth of Leonardo who, placing his name alongside that of his native town, made Vinci known throughout the world. In the fortress of the Guidi counts is the Museo Leonardiano, the library with rare works on Leonardo's life.
