Riomaggiore is the easternmost of the Cinque Terre, the first village you meet coming from La Spezia, located in the narrow valley of the Rivus Maior stream, now covered.
Riomaggiore has the typical and particular terraced structure of the villages located in torrential valleys, with steep walls and narrow valley floor. The landscape therefore appears vertical; stairs and stairways are the streets. The houses painted in the typical Ligurian colors, the beautiful church of San Giovanni Battista built in 1340 and the famous Via dell'Amore are just some of the must-see attractions of this historic village.
