The Field Museum was incorporated in the State of Illinois on September 16, 1893 as the Columbian Museum of Chicago for the purpose of "the accumulation and dissemination of knowledge and the preservation and display of objects illustrating art, archaeology, science and history" . The museum mainly deals with natural history and specifically paleontology and ethnography. Inside you will be able to find over 21 million specimens, of which only one is regularly included in the exhibition.
