The Chicago Park District is the oldest and one of the largest park districts in the United States. As of 2016, there are over 580 parks included in the Chicago Park District, 31 beaches, several boat marinas, two botanical gardens, a zoo, and 11 museums. A large number of the district's parks are located in or even adjacent to a number of Chicago public schools.
