To date, the structure of the Castle of Montpoupon is in a good state of conservation; the keep, the corner tower and part of the walls dating back to the 13th century are still clearly visible. The central part, i.e. the stately home, was rebuilt at the end of the 15th century, with mullioned windows and Gothic-style windows. The Renaissance gateway to the Castle, equipped with a portcullis, was instead built in 1520 by the will of the owner of the Castle of Monpoupon, Aymar de Prie.
