As soon as you enter the Château de Loches through the keep, the visitor is immersed in the prison environment of the Middle Ages… The tower of Louis XI, the prisons, the dungeons, the underground fortifications and the graffiti of the prisoners bring to mind episodes of harsh cruelty . On the other hand, not far from the Governor's house, the gardens with their pergolas, lawns and benches seem to somehow obscure the oppressive atmosphere that reigned inside.
