Château di Blois

Castle Châteaux of the Loire Valley, France

The great architectural richness of the Château di Blois

Blois Castle is one of the main castles of the Loire Valley; the city from which it takes its name, Blois, is the capital of the French department of Loir-et-Cher and is located along the side of a hill on the right bank of the Loire. It was the residence of numerous sovereigns of France and Joan of Arc was blessed by the archbishop of Reims before the expedition destined to liberate besieged Orléans. The royal castle of Blois gathers around a single courtyard a review of French architecture from the Middle Ages to the classical period, which makes it a very important building to understand the evolution of architecture over the centuries.
