The Asinelli tower is one of the so-called two towers of Bologna, symbol of the city, located at the crossroads between the ancient streets San Donato (now via Zamboni), San Vitale, Maggiore and Castiglione. Built, according to tradition, between 1109 and 1119 by the nobleman Gherardo Asinelli, the tower is 97.20 meters high, leans towards the west for 2.23 meters and has a stairway made up of 498 steps inside.
