The Haus der Kulturen der Welt is a building in Berlin, in the Tiergarten district. The building is located in the Großer Tiergarten, on the banks of the River Spree, near the Reichstag building.
It was built between 1956 and 1957 to a design by American architect Hugh Stubbins, and was one of the designs presented for the 1957 Internationale Bauhausstellung ("International Building Exhibition"). Today it is used as a cultural center and art events and performances are organized here, bringing cultures from all over the world into intra-social dialogue, especially Africa, Asia and Latin America.
