The Bode-Museum is a museum in Berlin which is part of the State Museums, located on Museum Island. The museum is housed in a listed building, designed by architect Ernst von Ihne and opened in 1904.
It was originally called the Kaiser-Friedrich-Museum by Emperor Frederick III of Germany. In 1956 it was renamed the Bode-Museum in honor of its founder and first director, Wilhelm von Bode. It was closed for maintenance in 1997, and reopened on October 18, 2006. Today it houses the sculpture collections (Skulpturensammlung), the rich coin and medal collection, the Byzantine museum and a small part of the Pinacoteca collections.
