La Boqueria is the most famous market in Spain and the largest in Catalonia with its 2583 square meters and more than 300 stalls. It is also one of the oldest markets in Spain, born in the early 17th century at the gates of the city on the Pla de la Boqueria plain to avoid paying taxes on goods. It was then inaugurated in 1836, where it is still located, in the middle of the popular Rambla, between the Virreina Palace and the Liceu Theater.
Today La Boqueria is not only a market where you can find products that are otherwise difficult to find, but also a tourist attraction that attracts visitors from all over the world.
