The Van Gogh Museum is a state museum (Rijksmuseum) located in Amsterdam, and has the largest collection of works by Dutch painter Vincent Van Gogh. The Van Gogh Museum consists of two interconnected buildings: the main building, designed by Gerrit Rietveld and opened in 1973, and the new wing, designed by architect Kisho Kurokawa, whose work was completed in 1999. The museum's permanent collection includes 200 paintings, 500 drawings and more than 700 letters by the Dutch painter, as well as his personal collection of Japanese prints.
