The Canal Ring (Dutch: Grachtengordel) is the famous 17th-century district surrounding the old center of Amsterdam. The canals were built in the 17th century, with the aim of draining the marshes, to later allow for the expansion of the urban area. The entire district is designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site due to its unique cultural and historical value. Traveling the canals of Amsterdam by pedal boat or on a boat will be a unique experience.
